Pickleball in Millburn, New Jersey
Millburn has several outdoor court choices across Millburn and Short Hills. Gero Park carries the largest concentration, including four lighted pickleball only courts, three multipurpose courts lined only for pickleball during scheduled access, and shared tennis courts. Taylor Park and Slayton Field add shared courts in other parts of the township. Municipal court use requires a Millburn Recreation tennis and pickleball membership badge.
Players seeking scheduled indoor games, skill based rotations, or instruction can use Open Play Pickleball in nearby Florham Park. That facility is outside Millburn and gives beginners and visitors a practical way to join play without arranging a foursome.

357 White Oak Ridge Road, Short Hills, NJ 07041
Four lighted courts are lined for pickleball only and are available daily from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. The park also has three lighted multipurpose courts lined for pickleball only during scheduled access on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. The two tennis courts are also striped for pickleball and are open from 8:00 a.m. to dark. These are shared courts, so members should reserve a time when they want dependable access.
- Open Play Pickleball

This indoor facility is outside Millburn and has 14 cushioned courts. Two hour open play sessions use rotating games organized by skill level. Pay as you go access is available without a monthly membership, and private court reservations are offered for groups. Open play and booking options
Beginner Pickleball
New players who want instruction should start with Pickleball 101 at Open Play Pickleball in Florham Park. The indoor setting removes weather concerns, and the same facility offers advanced beginner open play for players ready to practice in rotating games.
Millburn's outdoor courts are useful for practice with a friend after learning scoring, serving, the nonvolley zone, and basic court positioning. A township membership badge is required. Court use is limited to one hour when another player is waiting or a reservation begins. Local instructors are also available through the Coaches section.
Open Play and Reservations
Millburn's municipal system is based on memberships and court reservations. Members can reserve one court for one hour per day, up to two days in advance. Reservations are available from mid March through November. Members may use the courts on a first come basis outside the reservation season.
Recreation lessons, tournaments, and school practices receive priority when scheduled. The township also offers adult pickleball open play as a recreation program when sessions are active. Rules and reservation instructions provide the current program documents.
Open Play Pickleball in Florham Park runs rotating sessions throughout the day by skill level. It also offers ladder leagues, rated matches, round robins, and social events. Players can register for a specific session instead of waiting at a public court for a game to form.
Traveling Here for Pickleball
Millburn Township courts are not casual public drop in courts. Players need a current Millburn Recreation membership badge. A guest may play with a member, with one guest allowed for singles and up to two guests in doubles when two members are present. A reservation holder receives priority for the assigned one hour period.
A visitor coming alone should book a skill appropriate open play session at Open Play Pickleball in Florham Park. Pay as you go access is available, games rotate, and no partner is needed. Visitors who already have a local member host can use Gero Park for outdoor play, with the host handling the township reservation and guest rules.
